Family Table is a family-owned group of sixteen hometown restaurants across twelve towns in northwest and north central Iowa, serving since 1968. The group includes The Villager, Zimmy’s and the Lakeshore Café in Storm Lake, a second Zimmy’s in Ida Grove, the Gasthaus in Cherokee, Miller’s in Algona and Humboldt, Kirby’s in Emmetsburg, Cook’s and Langer’s in Sheldon, Sioux County Livestock in Sioux Center, and Family Table diners in Cherokee, Eagle Grove, Le Mars, Pocahontas and Spencer. Every location serves home-style cooking — broasted chicken, hand-cut steaks, breakfast, burgers and daily specials — with call-ahead pickup at every restaurant and online ordering through DoorDash at The Villager, Zimmy’s Bar & Grille and Lakeshore Cafe in Storm Lake; Family Table in Spencer; Family Table in Le Mars; Langer’s Bar & Grill & The Lounge in Sheldon; and Sioux County Livestock Company in Sioux Center.

★ Our Story ★

One family, since 1968.

It started with one dining room in Storm Lake and a plate of hand-breaded broasted chicken. Fifty-some years later, we set sixteen tables across twelve hometowns — same family, same handshake, same idea of what supper should be.

Family Table began in 1968, when The Villager opened in Storm Lake serving hand-breaded broasted chicken and onion rings made from scratch. Lakeshore Café joined on Lake Avenue in 1978.

In 1985, two restaurants in Eagle Grove combined to become the first to carry the Family Table name. The group grew the way small towns do — one at a time — adding Cherokee and Spencer through the early 1990s; Pocahontas, Sioux Center and Le Mars between 2001 and 2004; and Ida Grove, Humboldt and Emmetsburg from 2006 to 2008. Zimmy’s opened on Lake Avenue in Storm Lake in 2014.

Today the Family Table Group is a family-owned company of sixteen restaurants across twelve northwest- and north-central-Iowa towns — different rooms, one table — serving home-style cooking from breakfast through hand-cut steaks.
